| There was a powerful message on mercy during the last Family Room at Covenant Life Church. It applies to all aspects of our lives, but the message focused on mercy in marriage. Here is a link to the message in mp3 form. http://www.covlife.org/sermons/dl_dialog.php?filename=../familyroom/uploads/01.18.08-FamilyRoom.mp3
There are some application questions in pdf form found here: http://www.covlife.org/sermons/dl_dialog.php?filename=../familyroom/uploads/FR_Questions_01_18_08.pdf
A couple of things which stood out to me: - sin, no matter how egregious an act towards me, is a sin against God - the sin committed by someone else, in particular sin which affects me, has ALREADY been paid for by the blood of Christ bearing the judgment of God. Who am I, that I should seek retribution for myself? Am I arrogant enough to say, "The blood of Christ is not enough to pay for this sin, that I must enact my own judgment as payment for the wrong done to me."? (Wow, I hope not.) see Matt 18:21-35, The Unforgiving Servant - the way I react to sin against me reveals my own understanding of grace - I am an awful sinner and so much to work on
